Gucci pearl Double G buckle belt review and size guide
GUIDES & TIPS
Today, I would like to give you a guide on the Gucci GG buckle belt and give some help how to choose the right belt size.
A few years ago, when the Gucci Marmont Collection was released the Gucci GG belt became one of the most sought-after fashion acessories. The double G logo made the belt so popular immediately that you had to get on a waitlist to buy one despite of the heavy price tag.
I did not want to spend a lot of money on a designer belt, what's more I did not even think of buying an expensive piece, as I usually wear loose tops and blouses which hide my belly. But later, I came to the conclusion that at least one classic designer belt should have to be in my wardrobe. While browsing the luxury resale platforms I bumped into two especially beautiful pieces, one of them was this unique Gucci belt with pearl double G buckle.
I decided to buy it, but then a small problem occured. I faced with the dilemma of finding the right size for me. I have never thought of this issue before and I just hoped that the belt I chose would be ok for me regarding its sizing.
The majority of sellers usually write down the official size of the belt that can be found on the back of the leather (or just write it is 80 cm long), which does not necessarily give us all the relevant information we would need. I had to make a research on this topic and I have found the following.
Belts generally have 5 holes total, spaced 1 inch apart.
The size of a belt is usually the distance between the end of the belt, -where it meets the buckle- and the middle hole.
In the case of Gucci GG buckle belts, the distance is measured from the buckle including it! to the middle hole. If you take a 85 cm size belt, it means that the distance between the middle hole and the end of the belt (including the buckle!) is 85 cm long. The whole length of a 85 cm large belt is 100 cm. It means there are 15 cm left from the middle hole to the end of the belt, or we can say, there is a 10 cm distance between the last hole and the end of the belt.
When it comes to choosing the right width it’s always based on your taste and personal style. I went for the 2cm wide skinny belt, because I can use it with the majority of my jeans and trousers and of course with dresses, too. This type of belt is also available in 4cm width.
The belt has the highest quality, it is exactly what anyone would expect of such an expensive luxury item. The leather is soft and smooth, but durable.
I personally preferred the black one, as it is a universal colour and that fits best with my wardrobe and personal style. At the moment, you can buy this type of belt only in black colour from the official site of Gucci, but if you are lucky, you can even find pre-loved pieces in pink or red on some luxury resale platforms.
How to wear it?
This belt is so beautiful and stylish that it surely livens up your look. You can wear it with trousers or on dresses, too.
The belt with the GG buckle enriched with imitation pearls adds a very elegant and sophisticated look to your outfit. It goes perfectly well with my gold Gucci Marmont flap bag, but it can be also fashionable with a black Chanel bag.
Is it worth the money?
I cannot answear with a simple yes, or no. It depends on your budget and your attitude. If you want people to notice what an expensive belt you are wearing, then it is worth the price. It was a joke! If I want to be quite honest, I must say that in the case of a designer item up to a relatively high percent we always pay for the name. I must emphasize that I always try to pay a reasonable price for every pre-loved designer item that I buy. As this belt was on my wish list and I found one at an affordable price, I bought it. I must also admit that this belt is a good investment piece because it won't go out of style and it will keep its value.
Where to buy it second-hand?
Vestiaire Collective is one of my favourite luxury resale platforms when it comes to hunting for something new. You can also buy Gucci belts from Neimann Marcus or from the following luxury resale platforms: Collector Square, Current Boutique, Fashionphile, Matchesfashion, Open for Vintage, Shopbop, The Luxury Closet.
I hope that my post helps you in your decision (and finding the right size), in case you are planning to purchase such an amazing Gucci belt.
See you next time!
